The Indiana Pacers welcomed the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night on a five-game home winning streak. That winning streak went unchallenged.

It was largely due to Myles Turner playing like a man on a mission. Following reports that Myles had turned down an extension offer from the Pacers, it appears that Myles felt like he had something to prove to Pacers management. Take a look at the following stat line:

Myles Turner vs Hornets: 34 minutes, 29 points, 63% FG, 9 rebounds, 1 steal, and 4 blocks.

I’m unsure if you are aware, but that is an efficient night if you’ve ever seen one. But it wasn’t just the production, it was the aggression that was seen out of Turner on Sunday night. Take a look at the following clip:

The excellence that Haliburton and Turner are showing in the pick-and-roll game is refreshing, and I imagine Turner is loving every minute of having an elite point guard to play alongside for the first time in his career. One can only hope that new trade rumors are untrue and that Myles Turner is a Pacer for many years to come, but only time will tell.

Other things we learned from the win:

  • Nembhard continues to look like potentially the best 2nd round draft pick in years. He’s coming up big on the defensive side of the ball and his decision making looks elite. Look for him to continue to build on his excellent performances of late.
  • Nesmith is turning into the player that Pacers management felt that he could become. His time in Boston was disappointing, but in recent weeks with the Pacers his shooting and defense is getting steadily better. Plus in recent weeks he has had this viral dunk, so he is quickly becoming a fan favorite.
  • Tyrese Haliburton continues to look like the second coming of Chris Paul, with 16 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Not only that but his shooting has been elite and he is currently 2nd in the NBA in steals. Haliburton is quickly becoming a two way threat for the Pacers, with his defense slowly becoming elite.

The Pacers will look to start building a new winning streak at Madison Square Garden where they will take on the surging Knicks. This may be the perfect time to scout trade targets such as Cam Reddish and Obi Toppin as well.
