Glenn Robinson III: “I’m Following My Own Footsteps”
By Ben Gibson
Glenn Robinson III stopped by the Scoop B Radio Podcast with Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson to talk about his time with the Indiana Pacers.
Whatever cliche you want to use to describe Glenn Robinson III’s NBA career of ups and downs is appropriate, but even this season with the Indiana Pacers has been full of them.
Impressing in Summer League, becoming a starter, returning to the bench, winning the slam dunk contest, hitting a game-winning 3-pointer against the Hawks, and we aren’t even to the playoffs yet.
He is building his own legacy, one step at a time, and in the eyes of NBA fans, becoming his own man and not just the son of Glenn Robinson.

From an interview back in 2014 recently released on the Scoop B Radio podcast, Glenn Robinson III discussed comparison’s to his father, sharing his name and distinguishing the two apart, he said:
"“You know, I’ve really gotten used to it. When I was younger, I really didn’t understand why people are comparing me and why everything I did had to be compared to him. But growing up, I realized that – that’s my name. I can’t change it and I love it and having someone there who can give me that type of advice; and he’s been through that whole process and where I’m trying to go – he’s been through, he’s definitely motivated me. So, I don’t look at it as a negative thing. I always look at it as a positive thing, I’m following my own footsteps, I’m making my own footsteps, I’m not really following his. You know, I think I’m really starting to know that for myself and creating my own name. A lot of people call me GR3, it’s kind of breaking off from the whole “Glenn Robinson” … of course people are going to associate me and my dad but I think I’m really doing the job of still being myself.”"

Robinson clearly want to forge his own path, regardless of his name. It will take time, but he has done several things this season to — as far as the NBA is concerned — become his own man.

With the playoffs approaching (assuming Indiana doesn’t fall back and out of the race), he will have another chance to define himself under the brightest lights of the NBA season.
