Christmas? Halloween? Which holiday is Pacers’ Aaron Holiday most like?

We’re getting deep into the NBA offseason, so let’s get weird. If Indiana Pacers’ sophomore guard Aaron Holiday was a literal holiday, which would he be?

It’s late July, so things are slowing down in terms of NBA news. The big free agent signings are done. Summer League is over. We’re in the doldrums of the offseason as we wait for training camp and preseason to kick into gear. Still, there are some important things to talk about. So today, let’s open a dialogue. Which actual holiday would you compare Indiana Pacers‘ guard Aaron Holiday to?

Aaron Holiday isn’t exactly on the map at this point in his career as a prolific NBA point guard, but he’s definitely making a name for himself in just one pro season. Still, he’s no Christmas Day, probably not even a Christmas Eve. I mean, let’s be real. If any Holiday brother gets a Christmas comparison, it’s Jrue Holiday. He’s unanimously the most successful NBA Holiday brother to this point, and everyone knows about him and likes him.

So with Christmas off the list, what’s left? Thanksgiving still seems a bit high profile for Aaron, and he’s yet to really fill the stat sheet in the same way that Thanksgiving Day fills the bellies of millions of Americans year in and year out.

Halloween is too weird and creepy for sweet and innocent Aaron Holiday. Ironically, if any current or former Pacer were to draw a Halloween comparison, it would be Rakeem Christmas, who was apparently really into spiders and Chucky dolls.

Casimir Pulaski Day is too obscure, and Boxing Day is too… Canadian. So with all of these holidays off the table, what’s left for Aaron?

Let me throw this out there: If Aaron Holiday were a literal holiday, he’d be the 4th of July.

The 4th of July is generally well-liked. It’s exciting and burns brightly. It’s not the most high profile of holidays necessarily, but it’s still something you look forward to. At times, you may find yourself asking, “Was that it?” after a somewhat disappointing display, but generally, you enjoy what you see, and you’re excited for how it gets bigger and better next year.

Aaron Holiday is burning brightly for the Indiana Pacers, but he still has room to grow if he wants to turn into a Christmas or Thanksgiving Day. But for now, we’ll enjoy watching the second year guard continue to grow as we pledge our allegiances to the furthering of his career in the Blue and Gold.
