Indiana Pacers’ pre-season schedule is coming into focus
As the summer rolls along, we’ve now gotten clued into three pre-season matchups that the Indiana Pacers will face once October arrives.
NBA pre-season starts each fall in October, and we’re starting to get glimpses into when you’ll first be able to see your new-look Indiana Pacers back in action on the hardwood. The Pacers themselves haven’t yet released the full pre-season schedule, but some other teams are beginning to, which has allowed us to begin to piece together when and where the Blue and Gold will be playing.

- 2 Studs, 1 dud from gut-wrenching Indiana Pacers loss to Charlotte Hornets
- Handing out early-season grades for Pacers’ Bruce Brown, Obi Toppin
- 3 positives, 2 negatives in Pacers In-Season Tournament win vs. Cavaliers
- 2 positives, 3 negatives from first week of Indiana Pacers basketball
- Should Isaiah Jackson’s days with Indiana Pacers be numbered?
The first two known Pacers pre-season games will be exciting ones (by pre-season standards, anyway). On October 4th and 5th, Indiana has back-to-back match-ups against the Sacramento Kings. What makes these scrimmages unique is that they’ll actually take place in Mumbai, India. This is a very cool opportunity, as it will mark the very first time the NBA has ever played in India.
Here, we’ll hopefully get to see our first in-game looks at newcomers like Malcolm Brogdon, Jeremy Lamb, T.J. Warren, and Goga Bitadze playing in actual NBA action for the Pacers. Clearly, pre-season games don’t “matter” in terms of wins and losses, but it’ll be interesting to get a glimpse into how the team is shaping up for the coming year.
These two games were already known to be coming up, but yesterday, the Chicago Bulls clued us into another Pacers pre-season game when they released their own team’s schedule. According to the Bulls, the divisional foes will face off at Bankers Life Fieldhouse for a Friday night game on October 11th. If he plays, this will be Thaddeus Young‘s first game back in Indiana since opting to sign with the Bulls during free agency.
We’ll have to wait and see if the Indiana Pacers end up having more than these three pre-season matchups once their official schedule is released. With the trip to India, it’s entirely possible these are the only three games they’ll play with their heavy load of travelling they’ll have to contend with on the way to Asia and back. We’ll keep you in the loop.
