We have confirmation of Indiana Pacers preseason basketball

The Indiana Pacers haven’t released their preseason schedule yet, but thanks to the Chicago Bulls we have our first confirmed Pacers basketball game of the upcoming season.

The Indiana Pacers have yet to release their preseason schedule. Last season, it took until August 16th for the preseason calendar to be filled out officially. This can leave Pacers fans wondering when exactly their beloved team will be playing in the early parts of October.

However, we can piece together some of the schedule before it is officially released. Yesterday, the Chicago Bulls announced their preseason schedule and it helped start the creation of the Pacers preseason pallet of games:

If you’ll scroll through that schedule you’ll see a lot of blah blah blah before landing on the October 10th game. Bulls-Pacers. In Chicago. October 10th.

We made it. The Pacers haven’t played since April, but we have confirmation of 2018-19 Indiana Pacers basketball.

Last year, the Pacers played all of their preseason games against actual NBA teams on the road. They traveled around the central division, going to Milwaukee, Detroit, and Cleveland before ultimately closing out the schedule by hosting Israeli team Maccabi Haifa.

In 2016, the Pacers announced their preseason schedule on August 12. That season, they played six preseason games, four of which were on the road and a majority of them were against divisional competition. The Bulls game that was announced for this season continues the pattern of the Pacers playing their preseason games on the road against the Central Division.

This could be due to the low attendance that preseason games draw. I was at the Maccabi Haifa game last season. It was a barren wasteland inside BLF. Perhaps Indiana prefers to play their preseason games on the road for that reason, and the central division offers minimal travel for meaningless games.

Even though we don’t know the Pacers whole preseason schedule, it is exciting to get the first details of 2018-19 Pacers basketball. It’s closer than you think, folks. Get excited.
