The Indiana Pacers announced their roster for the upcoming Las Vegas Summer League, and noticeably absent was Ike Anigbogu.

If you were hoping to see Ike Anigbogu play in the Las Vegas Summer League next month, we’ve got some bad news for you: He isn’t on the Pacers roster.

According to Scott Agness of Vigilant Sports, Anigbogu is reportedly dealing with an injury according to his league sources.

Anigbogu only played 30 minutes last season for the Pacers, but in the G-League he averaged 8.4 points and 6.7 rebounds a game.

The good news for Pacers fans, however, is they’ll watch Aaron Holiday and Alize Johnson get their first minutes with Indiana when the summer league tips off next month. They’ll be joined by T.J. Leaf, Edmond Sumner, Ben Moore, Alex Poythress, several former Fort Wayne Mad Ants, and a few others to round out the squad.

Mad Ants head coach Steve Gansey takes over for Popeye Jones as the head coach of the Pacers Summer League team.

As far as players to watch, the rookies and Leaf should take most of your attention.

In the Orlando Summer League last year, Leaf averaged 12.7 points and 6.3 rebounds while showing off his NBA-ready offense. Leaf showed flashes of potential with the Pacers this season but needs to show improvement on defense to get regular minutes. Summer League might give us a glimpse of any progress he is making.

Indiana hopes he builds on the positives he showed in the Orlando Summer League.

As far as Holiday and Johnson, you hope to see what they did well in college translate to this half-step to the next level.

Holiday’s shooting should be on display while Johnson’s rebounding and defense should be his calling card in Vegas.

Sumner may be worth keeping an eye on too. The question remains if he can get back to being the player he was before tearing his ACL.

Careers aren’t made in summer leagues, but my general rule for any player is to look competent. Myles Turner and other Pacers didn’t always dominate in their summer games, but they showed that they were better than most of their fellow summer leaguers.

Next: Looking at a few free agency possibilities for the Pacers

Hopefully for Leaf is head and shoulders above the rest while the rookies show off the skills that got them this far when the games begin on July 6th.
