Cleveland Cavaliers guard George Hill is still alive in the postseason. But the former Pacer is back in Indiana for a ceremonial event.

George Hill still goes by the name “INDIANA GEROGE HILL” on Twitter despite not playing for a basketball team in this state since 2016. Despite that, he is still back in the state.

Hill, a former Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Jaguar, is back in Indy to graduate from college this weekend. Hill went to the NBA in 2008 after finishing four seasons at IUPUI, but he never completed his degree while at the school.

14 years later, Hill is the starting point guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers. They are currently still alive in postseason play after eliminating the Pacers and the Toronto Raptors. They open conference finals play on Sunday in Boston, meaning every day is important for series preparation.

But nothing is more important than this monumental day for Hill, who will miss time with the Cavs to head back to IUPUI and graduate.

14 years after leaving the school, Hill will get a degree from the school of liberal arts, according to FOX 59.

The school took to Twitter to make the announcement on Thursday:

The ceremony will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the Indianapolis Colts. Hill will be one of the two Jaguar student speakers at the commencement ceremony.

Hill also graduated from high school in the Indianapolis area, specifically Broad Ripple High School. Despite not playing for an Indiana team currently, George is proud of his hometown and that likely influenced his decision to return home for graduation.

The last time Hill was in the conference finals, he was a member of the Indiana Pacers. This time, even though he isn’t playing for the Pacers, his priorities still are found in Indiana. Congratulations, Mr. Hill. Enjoy your special day.
