The Indiana Pacers will rest four of their starters — Bojan Bogdanovic, Victor Oladipo, Myles Turner, and Thaddeus Young — tonight against the Detroit Pistons.

The Indiana Pacers will sit Bojan Bogdanovic, Victor Oladipo, Myles Turner, and Thaddeus Young tonight as they face the Detroit Pistons in the blue and gold’s third preseason game.

This seems fair since the Pistons are going without their regular lineup as well.

UPDATE: The Pacers are now resting Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis, and Lance Stephenson as well. Trey-McKinney Jones is the only injured player that we didn’t know about going into Monday’s game.

The reason for this is to give the Pacers a better look at their younger players before they make their cuts for the regular season. We know what to expect from most of the lineup, but Monday will shine the light on T.J. Leaf, Domantas Sabonis, and other players the Pacers made bets on this summer.

While most of the roster knows their fate, Indiana does have a pair of spots that are up for grabs — assuming Damien Wilkins and Joe Young are kept.

But who should make it onto the opening night roster? Dedrick C. Hendricks of Ridiculous Upside has a few guesses about what the Pacers will do.

"With two spots remaining, you can then look at the young up-and-coming players. Guys that have spent time in both the G-League and the NBA. For the final spots, it basically leaves Ike Anigbogu, Edmond Sumner, Poythress, and Jarrod Uthoff. Out of these guys, Poythress is should be the guy who comes out on top. He provides athleticism to an up-tempo team, not to mention he played some solid ball with the Philadelphia 76ers during the final stages of last season. If the Pacers are too weary to immediately bring in Poythress, due to him being on a two-way deal, Uthoff has a good case for himself since he spent some time with the Dallas Mavericks last season. Both Anigbogu and Sumner are second-round picks. Anigbogu was selected 47th in the 2017 NBA Draft by Indiana, and Sumner was traded to Indiana by the New Orleans Pelicans after being selected as the 52nd pick. Anigbogu has shown some conditioning concerns early on in camp, but seems to have addressed those issues and seemingly getting into NBA shape. Meanwhile, Sumner is expected to be ready to hop back on the court until January due to the ACL tear that he suffered back when he was with Xavier. When he returns, he’ll be rehabbingwith the Mad Ants as he’s under a two-way deal with the Pacers"

As he notes, Alex Poythress and Jarrod Uthoff are the most likely picks as Edmond Sumner and Ike Anigbogu get back to 100%. Anigbogu started practicing with the Pacers last Monday, but with his injury history and raw but intriguing talent, there seems to be little need to rush him into play until he is fully ready.

With both Anigbogu and Sumner, the Pacers have potential steals in the draft if they can get healthy. The duo appeared to be first-round talent before injuries dropped their draft stock.

At least there is someone to blame if the Pacers lose tonight after winning their first two preseason games.
