The 27-year-old Kevin Seraphin is a free agent drawing interest in Spain, but apparently the Indiana Pacers may also be in the market for the 6’10” forward.

Despite having a roster of 15 players — the maximum allowable in the NBA — the Indiana Pacers continue to show interest in others. Larry Bird inked Alex Poythress to a “partially guaranteed” deal yesterday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, and now he is reportedly eyeing former Washington Wizard Kevin Seraphin.

Seraphin is currently teamless after playing 48 games for the New York Knicks last season and reportedly drawing interest from FC Barcelona in the Spanish league. According to Yann Ohnona of L’Equipe, via Sean Highkin of NBC Sports, the Pacers are also in the mix for the services of 6’10” forward.

“Kevin Seraphin, always courted by Barcelona, is in the United States for a trial with the Pacers of Indiana,” read a tweet from Ohnona, as translated by NBC.

Among the 15 players on the Pacers, Jeremy Evans and Rakeem Christmas seem the least likely to be in the team’s longer-term plans. Evans came over this summer in a cash-grab deal, with the Dallas Mavericks reportedly paying Indiana $3 million to rid them of what was a luxury tax burden on their payroll.

Christmas came over the prior summer in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers that saw Bird surrender a second-round draft pick. The Yuletide-themed big saw just six minutes of action in his rookie year, however, spending the bulk of his time in the D-League with team affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

Still, both of those tall mean have guaranteed contracts for the upcoming season.

Still, again, Seraphin has a much better track record than both. And waiving either one would only cost Indiana a little over $1 million. So if the 27-year-old really does want to remain in the NBA and is willing to take a small contract, the Pacers could easily make it happen logistically.

In nearly 6,000 career minutes, Seraphin has put up 14.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per 36 minutes while shooting 48.3% from the field. His best per-game year came in 2012-13 when he averaged 9.1 points and 4.4 rebounds while logging 22 minutes per night in 79 games with Washington.
