The Indiana Pacers need to savor what Tyrese Haliburton was able to do in the 2025 NBA Playoffs. Victor Wembanyama is proof of that. Just look at the Oklahoma City Thunder. Everyone thought they were a dynasty. Then, Wemby came along. Now, they might get bounced in the Western Conference finals.
Title runs are rare. They are unpredictable. Even getting to the Finals is an accomplishment. And now, with West seemingly ready to run through Wemby and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for years, it’s going to be hard for teams to do that. But the Pacers have Haliburton. An elite playoff performer.
And that’s something worth savoring.

Not every team is lucky enough to have a guy like Haliburton. A guy who steps up his play in the postseason, but even before that, manages to lead his team to the postseason in the first place.
Nobody thought the Pacers were going to make the 2025 NBA Finals. But Haliburton led them there. He’s such a great playoff performer that the Pacers were able to make an insane run to the title game.
OKC has all the makings of a dynasty. And they still could be. But Wemby is in their way. And they are a Game 7 loss away from getting bounced, continuing the streak of no repeat champions in the NBA.
Wemby, in this instance, represents the mystery. The unknown of the NBA landscape. At any given time, a new player could emerge as a dominant playoff force, and at any given time, that player could be dethroned.
The best teams can hope for in today’s NBA is to give themselves a fighting chance. Just get to the table. Find a way to make a deep playoff run and depend on your best players.
Because the next Wemby, OKC, or trade-created Boston Celtics could be right around the corner, ready to spoil the party. New elite teams pop up every year.
Luckily for Indiana, they have a guy like Haliburton. A guy who makes it seem like there’s always a chance, no matter who is in his way, SGA, Wemby, or otherwise.
The Pacers have found an elite playoff performer. A superstar who knows how to kick things up a notch in the postseason. That’s a rarity in today’s NBA.
So, while Wemby may help the San Antonio Spurs be title favorites for years on end, the Pacers will always have a chance. Because they have Haliburton. And Playoff Haliburton makes anything possible.
