What will Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton's role be on Team USA?
By Ryan Stano
Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton will be playing in the Olympics in Paris. This isn't his first experience with Team USA. He played for them last year in the FIBA World Cup. In fact, his play impressed a lot of people around the league even though Team USA didn't finish with a medal.
Haliburton is on a team that is absolutely loaded. LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, and Joel Embiid are just some of the players on the team. For the first time in a while, all of the best American players are playing in the Olympics for Team USA.
In the World Cup, Haliburton came off the bench. He was the guy who helped set everyone up, just as he does for the Pacers. He wasn't the scoring threat he is in the NBA though. He did lead Team USA in steals and assists and played 21.5 minutes off the bench.

Now that better players on the roster for the Olympics, what will Haliburton's role be? I think it will be something similar. He won't be starting for them, but he should get heavy minutes off the bench. His passing ability is something that this team full of scorers desperately needs.
Haliburton averaged only 8.6 points per game in the World Cup. I wouldn't be surprised to see that number go down. I do expect him to keep shooting the ball efficiently from three. It's a shorter three-point line in Paris than it is in the NBA, so he should feast from beyond the arc.
This is a team that should be favored to win the gold medal now that they have all of the best players coming out to play. Haliburton will get some great experience playing alongside the best players in the world and could come out of it with a gold medal if he plays well.
