Indiana Pacers have a player make Team Canada training camp for the Olympics
By Ryan Stano
The Indiana Pacers have a solid roster of players from all over the world. Tyrese Haliburton is playing for Team USA in the Olympics. Pascal Siakam is from Cameroon and just re-signed with Indiana with a max deal. Andrew Nembhard is from Canada. Those are just the guys in the starting lineup too.
Haliburton is playing for Team USA, but might not actually be participating depending on what happens with his hamstring. He got himself hurt again in the Eastern Conference Finals and the best thing for that hamstring is to get it rested and healed before training camp starts.
Nembhard has other things on his mind. He is coming off a strong performance in Game 3 and Game 4 when Haliburton was hurt. He showed some things that others around the NBA perhaps didn't think that he could do. He showed he has the potential to be a lead guard. Nembhard is also trying out for the Olympics.
Pacers player Andrew Nembhard qualifies for Team Canada's training camp roster
Nembhard is one of 20 players who qualified for the training camp roster for the Olympics in Paris this summer. He is one of several NBA players who have a chance to be on the final squad. It would be a great opportunity for him if he was able to make the final roster.
It's not going to be easy for him to do it. There are a lot of other talented guards who are also on the training camp roster. If he's able to actually make the roster and play in Paris, it would be a great experience for him. He would get to show the rest of the world that his improvement this year wasn't a fluke.
Indiana also has Bennedict Mathurin at Team Canada's camp, but he is not participating in any basketball activities because of his injury. He will be around the team just to get some international experience. That's something that will be invaluable.
Hopefully, Nembhard will make the final roster and will play well in the Olympics.
