Indiana Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton had been nursing a calf injury in the past few games of the NBA Finals. Despite being listed as questionable for Games 6 and 7, the Wisconsin native was available each time. There was great risk in allowing Haliburton to play through the injury, but given that the team is within reach of their first-ever NBA Championship, it is no surprise that he wanted to be on the court no matter what. Unfortunately for Haliburton and the Pacers, the worst-case scenario has come to life in Game 7.
In the first quarter of the game, Haliburton suffered a non-contact lower right leg injury and was helped into the locker room. Indiana has already ruled him out for the remainder of the game, and it has since been confirmed that he suffered an Achilles injury, which could also put his status for next season in doubt as well.
Before exiting the game, Haliburton scored nine points on 3-for-5 shooting in just seven minutes. Following his devastating injury, many fans and sports personalities took to social media to send a message and give their support to the 25-year-old.
