Myles Turner debunks claim about imminent Pacers exit
By Zach Pearson
The annual Myles Turner exit saga continued this year for the Indiana Pacers. However, unlike in seasons past, the big man’s possible departure from the team holds much more credence, in view of the franchise’s pivot to a youth movement, as well as his contract status making him a legitimate flight risk.
Already involved in a bevy of trade rumors, many are already penciling in that the big man will soon leave from the only franchise he’s ever known. However, Turner himself debunked rumors of an imminent exit on social media.
Did Myles Turner just hint at staying with the Indiana Pacers?
To the writer’s defense, it does not take rocket science to prognosticate Myles Turner being likely to leave the Indiana Pacers in the offseason if he remains on the roster for training camp. Between the franchise’s new direction to the possible pent-up feelings of constantly being in the rumor mill, a lot of reasons could be in the forefront of why a breakup could be on the horizon.
However, this could a be a prompt that the rangy shot blocker is keeping an open mind. After all, next season is his only actual chance in the last couple years or so to prove himself after having his previous two cut off due to injury.
Who knows, maybe Turner finds a way to coexist with Tyrese Haliburton and the other foundational pieces of the team. If so, then prolonging his seven-year long partnership with the team could be pretty viable.
Still, keeping things the way they are on the Turner front for the immediate future seems like a reach or even a long shot. After all, while he has shown openness to remain in the Circle City, it could the Indiana Pacers themselves which could initiate a breakup that seems to be long overdue, one way or the other.
