The Indiana Pacers’ NBA Draft strategy discards the Charlotte Hornets as an ideal trading partner

The chatter around the Indiana Pacers and the Charlotte Hornets as trade partners has persisted for quite a while now, with all talks reportedly centered on both teams reconfiguring their frontcourt setup involving the likes of Turner, PJ Washington, and even Gordon Hayward, among others.

However, with the Pacers holding a great shot to nab a top pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, their frontcourt needs could easily be solved in the rookie pool. Some prospects that could mitigate Indiana’s need here include Paolo Banchero, Jabari Smith, Chet Holmgren, and Keegan Murray.

Looking at Charlotte’s other pieces does not ignite much, either. Moving the needle for Terry Rozier, Kelly Oubre Jr., and James Bouknight, for example, will not do much for the Pacers, as they are already set in the backcourt.
