What could go wrong for the Indiana Pacers this offseason?

The Indiana Pacers had a poor season in 2020-21 and are on the verge of an uphill battle to get back into the mix in the Eastern Conference. They have moved on from the one-year disaster that was Nate Bjorkgren at head coach, turning their focus to a proven leader.

Rick Carlisle returns to Indiana after a long stint with the Dallas Mavericks where he won an NBA Championship a decade ago. Will his return to the Circle City help reverse the fortunes of the franchise he once carried to a deep playoff run?

The Pacers are also set to pick in the lottery for the first time in a few years when the NBA Draft rolls around later this month. This could be the offseason that gets them back near the top of the East with a bright future to look forward to.

Indiana rarely has the chance to make a big splash in the offseason and with limited cap space this time around, it is fair to expect much of the same in 2021. However, the high draft pick could be enough to get them over the hump in the near future.
