The Indiana Pacers don’t really have a lot of money to spend in free agency as they are over the cap in the present, but that will not stop them from taking their chances in the wide pool of players. After a season full of disappointments, standing idle will only fetch them a rewind of mediocrity.

Standing pat may seem logical as the team never mobilized a healthy lineup last year, but doing so is easier said than done. While the starters are locked up, key pieces like TJ McConnell and Doug McDermott are approaching free agency and are both flight risks.

The Indiana Pacers should be wary in free agency

Nevertheless, the Pacers control their own destiny in the offseason since the team only needs some secondary pieces to improve the roster. The free agency class of 2021 may not allure most, especially with stars slated for the market already staying put with their respective teams, but the summer will still be filled by talented up-and-comers and reliable veterans for teams looking to take it up a notch next season.

However, the buyer beware sign still remains. Free agency is a great route to improve, but not all that glitters is golden. Thus, despite all the available talent, the Blue and Gold should veer away from these five free agents.
