The Indiana Pacers are still undefeated.
The Indiana Pacers maintain a perfect record as they beat the Boston Celtics in a thriller on Sunday night. It came down to the wire as Sabonis hit an and-one driving layup over Robert Williams to give the Pacers a one-point lead with seven seconds remaining. Malcolm Brogdon got the final stop against Jayson Tatum to seal the deal giving the Pacers a 108-107 victory against the Celtics.
After trailing in the first half by as many as 11 and by the end of the first half by six, the Pacers put together an impressive third quarter. They outscored the Boston Celtics by 11 in the third quarter as they were impressive on both sides of the court.
Doug McDermott provided an offensive spark in the first half which was much needed as Indiana fell into a 10 point deficit early. McDermott provided the Pacers with 16 points, three assists, and three threes on 50% FG and 43% from deep.
Malcolm Brogdon led from the front, stuffing the stat sheet with an impressive 25 points, five assists, five rebounds with two steals on an impressive 55% from the field. However, his most important moment came when he got stop on the final possession against Jayson Tatum. Brogdon has been sensational in the first three games and he will look to continue this fine form against the Celtics on Tuesday.
Domantas Sabonis did what he does on a regular basis and that post a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The stat that will please coach Bjorkgren the most is that Sabonis made two threes on four attempts. The Indiana Pacers’ new style of basketball is paying off and this has been visible with 3 consecutive wins to start the season.
The Pacers will look to replicate this performance against the same Celtics squad on Tuesday night. Victor Oladipo should be back for that contest as he was rested tonight to manage his workload on a back-to-back set.
