Malcolm Brogdon has not had the most fortunate year with the Indiana Pacers, but the season suspension has advantaged him in an odd way.

When the season was put on hold in mid-March due to concerns over the spread of novel coronavirus, Brogdon was in the middle of being sidelined due to a torn left rectus femoris, one of several injuries he’s had throughout the year.

Previous injuries had been, for the most part, just bumps and scratches, and this one was a bit more serious. The lack of games, practices, and therefore media availabilities has made it difficult to get a clear update on Brogdon’s status over the last several weeks.

Team President Kevin Pritchard conducted a media session digitally on Tuesday afternoon and announced that Brogdon is 100 percent and ready to go if and when the season resumes.

"“When I communicate with Malcolm, he’s just ready to go,” Pritchard said. “He was so looking forward to getting some games with Victor before the playoffs. Malcolm is so hungry.”"

This answers a huge question for not only fans, but also Nate McMillan and the coaching staff as they plan for the possibility of the playoffs picking up in an altered format over the next few months.

While it’s not certain what the playoffs will look like exactly, where they will be played, and when they’ll happen, knowing what players are healthy and available for rotation planning is huge.

Brogdon has taken on more direct responsibility this season and as a result, has had to take more challenging shots this year due to more attentive defenses swarming him. While he has fallen quite a bit in terms of accuracy from his 50/40/90 season last year as a result, he still plays a key role in the Pacers offense and is the team’s leading assist man.
