Tyrese Haliburton has built a reputation as one of the most clutch players currently in the NBA during the Indiana Pacers' NBA Finals run, and his status only continues to grow. Through 17 playoff games, the Wisconsin native is 6-for-7 on game-tying or go-ahead field goal attempts within the last 90 seconds. This is the most such shots one player has had in one playoff run since 1997.

The Pacers are in the NBA Finals even though not many expected them to make it this far. Additionally, they are now three wins away from an NBA title after their stunning Game 1 victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder. There is a lot of credit that deserves to go around in Indiana, but Haliburton leading the way and excelling in the clutch might be the biggest factor in their success.

This series is far from over, and it is too early for the Pacers to celebrate. However, they are in a good spot nonetheless, and if Haliburton can continue performing as well as he has when it matters the most, a championship victory might be inevitable for the Pacers.

Tyrese Haliburton has turned it up another level this postseason

There was never any doubt about Haliburton's talent and potential. Even entering this season, many considered him one of the best young point guards in the NBA. Additionally, it was no secret that his and the Pacers' futures were bright after their conference finals appearance last year. Still, he has been on another planet throughout the playoffs, and it is a big reason for Indiana's overall success.

Through 17 games, the 25-year-old is averaging 18.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 9.5 assists, and 1.3 steals. Additionally, so far in the playoffs, he is shooting 46.6% from the field. His stats are solid, but they don't do his performances and importance justice. Haliburton continues to prove that he can be relied upon in the clutch, and that is scary for all opposing teams.

Indiana still has a long way to go before they can officially be crowned the newest NBA Champions. However, they are also technically the closest to the ultimate prize. The Pacers are in a good spot, but they have to keep their focus. On the court, they continue to prove that they can win it all, but being able to win a championship is also a mental game. Even so, if Haliburton and the Pacers can continue doing what they have done up to this point (especially in the clutch), then the Larry O'Brien Trophy might be making its way to Indiana very soon.
