The one absolute disaster the Indiana Pacers must avoid this offseason

The Pacers are poised to have a great offseason as long as they can avoid this one disaster scenario.

The Indiana Pacers made big strides this season. They proved that they can beat anyone in the league on any given night. Their youth and inexperience in the playoffs showed up in the Eastern Conference Finals when they couldn't close three games that they had the lead late though.

That's something that shouldn't happen again now that they've experienced it. They really only have one guy who has played that deep into the playoffs before this year and that was Pascal Siakam. They gave away a lot to acquire Siakam midway through the season and it paid off.

Indiana gave up three first-round picks, Bruce Brown, and Jordan Nwora in order to bring him in. They did all of that despite the fact that Siakam is a free agent this summer and can decide to sign with any team he wants. That leads us to one disaster that the Pacers cannot let happen this summer.

The Pacers have to get Pascal Siakam to re-sign at all costs

Indiana has to bring back Siakam. It would be an absolute disaster if they ended up not getting him back after giving up as much as they did to get him in the middle of the year. Siakam is expected to be offered a max contract, so they're going to do the best they can to bring him back.

Tyrese Haliburton has commented about the fact that he will be texting him every day to make sure that he comes back. He knows how important Siakam is for the next two to three years of this Pacers team. Siakam gives this team a lot offensively and even defensively that they didn't have before.

Siakam is a guy that the Pacers can give the ball to anywhere in the paint and ask him to get a bucket. If he's at the rim or in the midrange, he's money. He makes tough, contested twos almost at will. That's not something that any of the other players on this team can do. Siakam's length is important on both ends of the floor.

There's no indication that the Pacers won't be able to bring him back. He seemed to love what the fans gave him while he was in Indiana. He is going to get a boatload of money and he has the opportunity to play on a winning team.
