Does a Big 3 bring championship or heartbreak to Indiana?

The Indiana Pacers have work to do after their surprise run to the conference finals. It came with several positives and was a true breakout for Tyrese Haliburton. Indiana made a bold move in trading for Pascal Siakam, which resulted in their first playoff series wins since making the conference finals in 2014.

Siakam is re-signed long-term, and Indiana does not want to be a one-hit-wonder. They have added a few pieces, but are virtually running it back with the same roster.

Do not be surprised to see the Pacers look for upgrades before the deadline. They are under the first tax apron and are willing to shoot for the stars. Indiana has a shot to add a third All-Star, but is that the best move for the franchise?

The Pacers are not afraid to make bold trades

Giving up three players and three first-round draft picks to land Pascal Siakam on an expiring contract took guts. The two-time All-Star was headed toward free agency, and the Pacers could have lost him with zero return. They knew their odds to sign him long-term were strong, but crazier things have happened in the NBA.

Does Indiana want another star? Will it make them a true title contender? Those are questions the Pacers front office needs to answer. Boston swept Indiana in the conference finals on their way to a championship. The Pacers certainly need more firepower to keep up.

Brandon Ingram is on the trade block, and the Pelicans are struggling to find suitors (subscription required). Could the Pacers jump in and land another All-Star? Do not rule it out. It would mean New Orleans sells low, and Indiana believes Ingram helps them compete for a championship.

Here is a look at a mock trade before diving in further if this is the right move for the Pacers.
