3. Pacers take advantage of need of Grizzlies' need for shooting

Could Indiana get draft capital in return for Buddy Hield? He is on an expiring contract and wants more than the Pacers were willing to offer in his next deal. Hield is an elite shooter who struggles on defense. There is not much market for him, but it only takes one team.

This is a lost season for the Grizzlies. Ja Morant is out for the year, and Memphis is headed toward the lottery. They should be right back in contention next season with their superstar healthy. Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart, and Jaren Jackson Jr. give them a strong top four, but they desperately need shooting. Could Memphis buy for next season? This trade may interest both parties.

Hield to Memphis

The Grizzlies would have to have a deal worked out with Hield to keep him long-term. It may push them into the second tax apron with Bane’s extension kicking in. Is Memphis willing to pay a significant tax bill and suffer the punishments to contend for a championship?

The Pacers get Kennard and Konchar to help them right now. Kennard is an elite shooter but cannot score like Hield. Konchar is a strong defender who struggles on offense. He would likely be limited to 20 minutes per game but could help Indiana get some needed stops.

The Grizzlies' injuries and spending likely keep this trade from happening, but it could be a beneficial move for both teams.
