While not a bad idea, this trade would not benefit the Pacers as much as it would the Lakers

The trade Leiva proposed between the Pacers and Lakers is not horrible.

From Los Angeles' perspective, they get a true big man who can help the team win now, as well as a young wing who can contribute immediately and in the future.

As for the Pacers, trading Turner would give them the chance to get a solid return for him as opposed to letting him leave in free agency, and Hachimura, Reaves, and Hayes are all solid players who would fit their scheme.

Ultimately, however, it is fair to say that the Lakers would fare better in this deal than the Pacers would.

Outside of him being an impending free agent next summer, the Pacers have no reason to trade Turner. He has been with the team for nearly a decade and is loved by the fans. Additionally, he is one of the team's best players and is a major part of their core. Furthermore, trading him would leave a large hole for the Pacers at the center position.

Plus, moving on from Mathurin at such a young age has a high chance of backfiring on the team. He has high potential and has only impressed during his short time in Indiana. Furthermore, he should continue to grow on the court as his career progresses.

The Pacers should feel confident with the core they have on the roster, and no major shakeup is needed.
