Former Pacer Oshae Brissett is reportedly receiving interest from a new team
For three seasons, Oshae Brissett donned the Indiana Pacers' blue and gold. With the team, he was always a great role player, contributing on both sides of the court and developing a reputation as a high-energy player.
Last summer, Brissett left the Pacers to join the Boston Celtics, who he helped eliminate his old team in the conference finals en route to his first-ever NBA championship. However, in a bit of a shocking move, the Canadian native rejected his $2.5 million player option with the Celtics, making him an unrestricted free agent in the summer.
As every NBA team prepares for the first week of training camp, Brissett remains unsigned. However, the 26-year-old, who played roughly 19 minutes in this year's NBA Finals, has reportedly caught the eyes of a team willing to give him a big role (and no, it is not the Pacers).
Oshae Brissett has received interest from Crvena Zvezda of the EuroLeague
According to Mladen Heleta of Sportske.net, Crvena Zvezda, a team based in Serbia, is interested in adding Brissett to the roster. Furthermore, Dario Skerletic of Sportando.com noted that the team may be eying Brissett instead of reuniting with former player Filip Petrusev, who they have had contract discussions with in the past.
Though he has never been an All-Star type of player, many would agree that it is shocking to see the former Pacer forward still unsigned as we approach the end of September. He is still young, and his athleticism and high energy would make him useful to any team. As Pacers fans know, Brissett always plays bigger than he is, which is a useful trait to have.
Though he left the Pacers a year ago, many fans still have fond memories of Brissett and what he brought to the team. He was a fan favorite based on his style of play and personality off the court. Furthermore, though he has only been in the NBA for five seasons, his best years up to this point have been as a member of the Pacers.
Brissett played 153 total games for the Pacers across three seasons. In those games, he averaged 8.1 points and 4.5 rebounds. Furthermore, he shot 41.4% from the field and 34.9% from the three-point line.
The Syracuse alum still has plenty of good basketball to play. Whether he will be in the NBA next season or not is something worth monitoring for Pacers fans.
