ESPN reporter says the Pacers are "on the prowl" to get star player some help

The Pacers are going to have to utilize trades to improve their team. It sounds like they are trying to get Tyrese Haliburton some help.

The Indiana Pacers are trying to improve their roster this offseason. They have already decided to re-sign Pascal Siakam to a max deal. That limits their ability to get some impact players in free agency. Most of their roster improvement will have to be through some trades.

They are really close to being an NBA title contender. There is a school of thought that they could just bring back everyone from last year and run it back. A young team will have gained some meaningful playoff experience and should know how to handle it better than they did a year ago.

It doesn't seem like that's how they think of the situation. They don't have a first-round pick this year, so the draft likely won't help them. While there haven't been any specific links to players from the team, an ESPN reporter says that they are sniffing around for opportunities.

ESPN reporter says the Pacers are looking to get help for Tyrese Haliburton

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, while Tyrese was in the studio I might add, Brian Windhorst gave a tidbit of information regarding the Pacers. He let the audience know that Indiana is "on the prowl" for a move. They are looking to get Tyrese Haliburton some help in addition to bringing back Siakam.

What kind of help that may be remains to be seen. They have a couple of good trade chips in Jarace Walker and Bennedict Mathurin that they can dangle. They have control of all of their first-round picks moving forward except for 2026. That's certainly enough to make some moves.

Does all of that equal a star player? That's unclear. The Pacers sill have some things to figure out, including how much Walker is worth in the open market. Depending on how attractive he is to other teams determines the kind of haul they can afford.

Windhorst says not to expect much on Wednesday night during the first round of the Draft, but things are happening. That should excite some Pacers fans.
