3. Tristan Thompson
Although it was very brief and forgettable, Tristan Thompson did have a stint with the Pacers. In 2022, the Pacers acquired Thompson from the Kings as part of the Haliburton trade. With the Pacers, Thompson appeared in four games, all as a bench player. In those games, he averaged 7.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Less than two weeks after the trade, the Pacers waived Thompson.
The Canadian native went on to sign with the Bulls, his third team of the 2021-22 season, and finished the year with them. However, Thompson later suffered an injury and missed the entire 2022-23 regular season. He would go on to join the Los Angeles Lakers for their playoff run and appear in six games, averaging 5.3 minutes.
Last season, Thompson went back to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he spent the first nine years of his NBA career. In 49 games off the bench, he averaged 3.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1 assist per game.
Now, the 33-year-old remains unsigned. Although he is not the same player he was a few years ago, Thompson is still a decent backup with championship experience. Any team looking for a veteran and depth at the big man position may look Thompson's way by the start of the 2024-25 season.
