Doug McDermott

Doug McDermott has spent the past 10 seasons solidifying his status as one of the best shooters in the NBA. With a career mark of 41.0 percent from beyond the arc, the 32-year-old has lived up to the hype in that area after a decorated collegiate career.

McDermott found himself in a diminished role in 2023-24, however, which makes one question if the Indiana Pacers would be willing to bring him back.

McDermott averaged 10.2 points per game on 41.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc as recently as 2022-23. He averaged just 14.1 minutes per outing in 2023-24, however, including 11.3 across 18 appearances with the Pacers.

That makes a return to Indiana a long shot for McDermott, even if he has been a productive member of the team in the past.

Between 2018-19 and 2020-21, McDermott averaged 10.3 points per game, including 13.7 in the latter season, as a member of the Pacers. His production translated to 18.1 points per 36 minutes, as well as 2.7 three-point field goals made by that same metric, on 41.1 percent shooting from distance.

Unfortunately, the opportunity to produce high-level minute-by-minute scoring numbers seems to have passed for McDermott in Indiana.
