Pacers injury report vs. Magic: Johnny Furphy, Franz Wagner, and more
After a brutal 118-114 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers during their home opener on Sunday, the Indiana Pacers dropped to 1-2 to begin the season. On Monday night, the Pacers will have another tough battle as they face the Orlando Magic on the road.
The Magic were a playoff team just one season ago and are in a very similar position to the Pacers given their youth and potential. Orlando is 2-1 after losing to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. This will be Orlando's final home game until they begin a five-game road trip.
Here is the full injury report for the Pacers and Magic as they both look to snap their short losing streaks tonight:
Pacers injury report vs. Magic on October 28
- Johnny Furphy (illness, strep throat) - OUT
- James Wiseman (torn Achilles) - OUT
- Tristen Newton (two-way) - OUT
Magic injury report vs. Pacers on October 28
- Franz Wagner (illness) - QUESTIONABLE
- Goga Bitadze (sore left foot) - QUESTIONABLE
- Jonathan Isaac (left hip contusion) - QUESTIONABLE
- Tristan da Silva (illness) - QUESTIONABLE
From Indiana's perspective, Wiseman and Newton are no surprise. Wiseman suffered a torn Achilles during the team's first game against the Detroit Pistons and underwent surgery. While it is likely the big man will miss an indefinite period of time, he has not officially been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
As for Newton, the rookie guard is unlikely to see much action on the court this season due to being on a two-way contract. Through three games, he has yet to log a single minute for the Pacers.
Furphy being out is a bit sudden, though it is confirmed to be due to strep throat. This will be the third game missed for the rookie wing as he has only played in the Pacers' second game against the New York Knicks.
On Orlando's side, no player is officially ruled out yet. However, they still have some big names on the injury report. Most notably, Franz Wagner and Jonathan Isaac are questionable. Additionally, the Magic may also be without former Pacer big man Goga Bitadze.
