As the end of the regular season approaches, many teams will fill out their rosters with many different types of NBA players. This includes long-time veterans who provide experience, or young prospects who may be getting their first chance to make a name for themselves on the big stage. Indiana Pacers fans have already seen a familiar face land a late-season contract.
Last week, the Philadelphia 76ers signed Oshae Brissett to a 10-day contract. Brissett spent three seasons in Indiana before joining the Boston Celtics last season and winning a title. Since joining the team, the former Pacer has appeared in three games for the 76ers, averaging 12.7 points on 57.7% shooting from the field, 3.7 rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block. So far, Brissett is playing well with his new team.
On Tuesday, another former Pacer landed a new NBA contract and is reunited with a past Indiana All-Star with less than a month remaining until the start of the playoffs.
Former Pacers forward signs with the Sacramento Kings
According to NBA insider Shams Charania (X link), former Pacer Terry Taylor has signed a 10-day contract with the Sacramento Kings. Taylor appeared in 28 games for the King's G League affiliate in Stockton this season. In those games, he averaged 17.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.2 blocks. He also shot 45.6% from the field and 39.9% from the three-point line.
The Kentucky native has not played in Sacramento all season. Additionally, he has not played in an NBA game in nearly a year when he played for the Chicago Bulls in their regular season finale last year. With this signing, Taylor is reunited with former Pacers All-Star Domantas Sabonis. The duo played five games together in Indiana.
Taylor began his NBA career with the Pacers and even started seven games during his rookie season. On the year, he averaged 9.6 points on 61.4% shooting from the field, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 33 games. Taylor also appeared in 26 games for the Pacers in his sophomore season before the team waived him.
The Pacers will go head-to-head against the Kings one more time this season on March 31. By that point, Taylor's initial 10-day contract will have expired. However, if he signs a second 10-day contract in Sacramento, he might still be with the team when they take on the Pacers. Either way, he is someone Pacers fans may want to monitor the rest of the way.
