Chandler Parsons completely misses the point in his criticism of Pacers fans

Former NBA player and current analyst Chandler Parsons recently called out Indiana Pacers fans for their decision to boo Myles Turner upon his return with the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. However, Parsons completely ignored why Pacers fans were booing him, leading to his criticism being a little misguided.

"It's a shame because these dudes do leave it all on the line. [Turner] did take a paycut, he did play through injury, he did all the things that you would want as an organization, and you still had the audacity to boo him when he comes back after going to get his money," Parsons said on "Run It Back."

"It should've been a standing ovation [for] someone that led you to Game 7 of the Finals last year. You didn't want to pay him... he should be pissed off, not the other way around."

Pacers fans had the right to boo Myles Turner

Let's make one thing clear: Parsons isn't entirely wrong with what he's saying.

Turner was a key player in Indiana for a decade, and he did play a major role in the team's recent success. Everybody will talk about his Houdini act in the 2025 NBA Finals, and that's totally fair. He was essentially a non-factor, and if he was even just a tiny bit better, his Pacers legacy may be completely different. Even so, he was a great fit in Rick Carlisle's system, and he was a fantastic complement to players like Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam.

But it's not just that he left the team in the offseason that Pacers fans are upset about. In fact, it's not even about what team he signed with (though that did play a role). It was how he left that left a negative impact on the Pacers fanbase.

Immediately after he left, Turner (seemingly) threw numerous shots at the Pacers, particularly regarding the organization itself. This included calling the Bucks a "championship organization," something that many Indiana fans took as an insult to their team, and even potentially sneak dissing franchise legend Reggie Miller.

And this is just part of it.

It's not just that he left or even went to a rival. It's the fact that Turner made a lot of comments on his way out that rubbed Pacers fans the wrong way.

Whether the Texas native really did mean to come off as disrespectful to the Pacers organization as he did is a different story. To be fair, everything he did say that upset fans was something that could have been interpreted multiple ways. Still, to say that the fans should've given him a standing ovation instead of booing him upon his return is very interesting.

A lot of this is still fresh. After all, Turner only officially departed about four months ago. Over time, it is fair to assume that fans and Turner will get over this. Until then, though, both sides have the right to be upset about how things ended, and this includes the fans, regardless of what Parsons thinks.
