2. The Pacers trade for a whole bunch of what they don’t need

The Pacers have a high quality center in Myles Turner and a set of power forwards that should really fill out the big-man rotation for the team. However, in case they feel they need more, this trade is perfectly catered to them. It was originally proposed here and this is how it goes:

In this case, the Pacers would be giving up the best player in the deal with no significant draft capital coming back. They would get an aging PJ Tucker that is not really an improvement over the power forward rotation we will be growing with our young core and not a long-term piece. We would get Paul Reed who also wouldn’t be a good fit. And the icing on the cake of course, is the two second round picks. Who wouldn’t want to take this deal? Everyone outside of Philly would immediately see this is a ridiculous trade idea.
