1. The end of back-to-back, back-to-backs, on the road in Portland 01/19

It’s less the opponent and more the task that makes this game so difficult. The week of January 14-19 will be the worst and hardest of the season. The Pacers will be traveling from Denver to Utah to Sacramento to Portland that week, and have two sets of back-to-back games. And while Portland may be a joke of a team this year, the Pacers are likely to be exhausted at the end of this week. Here is how that week plays out:

  • 1/14 @ Denver Nuggets (the champs)
  • 1/15 @ Utah Jazz
  • 1/18 @ Sacramento Kings (revenge game)
  • 1/19 @ Portland Trail Blazers

I wouldn’t wish that schedule on my worst enemy, but it’s the draw the Pacers got. They will need to try and make sure to be well above .500 prior to that stretch because those games may bring them back down to earth.
