While on paper this looks good, the Pacers may actually get worse after this trade.

The biggest issue with the trade would be moving on from Tyrese Haliburton’s biggest friend and mentor on the team. While Hield is a fine player on the court, the biggest value he has to the Pacers at the moment is that him being around has the potential to keep Haliburton happy here in Indianapolis.

And while it is yet to be seen what the Pacers are going to do with Hield this year, there are those out there that believe the Pacers may decide to finally move on given that there have been speculations about the teams plans for Hield for years now.

While Mann is a solid player in his own right and would fit in well with the Pacers and we believe that the Pacers will probably move on from Hield by the end of the season, we don’t think this is the deal that would get it done. Given the Pacers depth at shooting guard already, the Pacers would likely opt for draft capital or a player at a position of need rather than Mann, who plays the same position as Hield.

We grade this trade a C+, as it is neither a net positive or negative for the Pacers.
