Trade offer No. 5: The all-in offer

If the Indiana Pacers were completely sold on the trio of Tyrese Haliburton, Myles Turner, and Pascal Siakam (with a guaranteed contract extension), there could be a scenario in which they make a huge all-in offer to get a deal done. In this hypothetical deal, the Pacers would send Buddy Hield, Bennedict Mathurin, Jarace Walker, and their 2024 first-round pick (top 5 protected) in exchange for Pascal Siakam.

The big difference in this deal compared to the previous four that we’ve discussed revolves around Mathurin. If he’s included in a deal, I don’t see how the Raptors can not pull the trigger. For as good as Siakam has been for the Raptors, I find it hard to imagine that Toronto is going to get more high-end offers than what Mathurin would provide them.

He’s tough, hard-nosed, and has already proven to be an impactful offensive player after just one season in the league. He has a high ceiling and would be a great gamble for the Raptors to take even with Gary Trent Jr. and OG Anunoby on the roster already.

The big questions come from Indiana’s point of view. Would they be open to punting away on Mathurin’s long-term potential for Siakam? Do they feel Siakam makes them that much better right away?

If the answer to that question is yes, then perhaps there is a scenario where the Pacers put Mathurin on the table.
