The Indiana Pacers did something amazing on the first day of the new NBA calendar year; they locked in Tyrese Haliburton for the next five years.

What then ensued on twitter was, first off, hilarious by Tyrese Haliburton with an all-time great twitter moment. But then there was a bunch of comments on social media that were discussing how good/bad of a value the contract was.

Haliburton lit up twitter immediately after signing with a straight 34 second video of the million dollar man, a professional wrestler, laughing. It was fitting because Ty is known to be a big fan of wrestling. But then twitter continued to show support of the move with the biggest names in Pacers media immediately showing support for the franchise cornerstone.

We will continue to double down on this take: Tyrese is not an overpay, if anything, he is underpaid in the value he will bring to the Indiana Pacers. He is a generational point guard and is already the best in the east, only behind players like Luka and Steph in the west. Don’t sleep on Haliburton becoming an all-time Pacer and a perennial All-Star in the NBA.

The Pacers have committed to Tyrese Haliburton being the face and building around him.

All of the signings, all of the offseason movement, all of the draft additions, all of it points to the Pacers wanting to build the team completely around Haliburton. They are bringing in shooters, players that when given the ball while open can hit down shots. They are bringing in versatile forwards, players that can excel in the short and long pick and roll, which Haliburton will be able to execute flawlessly.

This is an exciting time to be a Pacers fan and keep your eyes to the news cycle to see who the next building block around Haliburton will be!
