It turns out the Pacers may have a hot commodity in this year’s upcoming NBA draft as many teams are reportedly eyeing multiple of the Pacers’ picks and trying to obtain them. One team that seems to be an interesting possibility is the San Antonio Spurs wanting to trade back into the lottery a second time.

SpursTalk, a local Spurs-focused media outlet, is reporting that:

"“Furthermore, two different league sources I’ve spoken to say the Spurs are one of the most active teams in trade talks heading into the draft. According to the league sources, the Spurs are telling teams their preference is to trade for another first round pick. If that’s unsuccessful, San Antonio has let it be known that they want to trade away at least one of their second round picks.”"

Given that the Pacers have three first round picks, there is a decent chance that the Spurs will be calling the Pacers in the coming days to try and see if any of the picks that they have are available. Lucky for them, Pacer’s front office is saying that they won’t be using all of their draft picks.

One writer thinks that the Pacers and Spurs could work out a deal for the seventh overall pick if the right player were to come back in the package.

"“The Spurs could hypothetically package one or both of their second-round picks, along with a wing for the No. 7 pick. A player on San Antonio’s roster that could fit the bill for what Indiana is seeking is Keldon Johnson.”"

Would Keldon Johnson be worth the seventh pick?

Johnson doesn’t really fill the need that the Pacers have at the moment.

Keldon Johnson is an undersized forward, who plays a similar game to many of the pieces that the Pacers already have on the roster. The Pacers realistically need to get a bigger forward to fill into their starting lineup, especially one that will better fit the needs of the roster better than what will be on the board at seven.

Sell on these talks, especially for the seventh pick.
