Ranking 4 Best prospects for Pacers to finally turn things around at 2023 NBA Draft
By Tyler Watts
1. Cam Whitmore
The Pacers want a two-way threat that can help them quickly. Whitmore is a 6’6 wing with a 6’8 wingspan that showed flashes of a high floor and upside during his lone season at Villanova. The 18-year-old average 12.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in 27.3 minutes per game. He should be able to make an impact on both ends of the floor quickly, but can he blossom into a star?
Whitmore competes hard and guards multiple positions. He could become an elite defender thanks to his athleticism, but it will take time. Whitmore shot just 34.3 percent from 3-point range last season, and there are questions about his shot-making chops moving forward.
Why is Cam Whitmore the right fit for the Indiana Pacers? He is a versatile wing with the most shooting upside. Whitmore could start next to Tyrese Haliburton for the next decade as they develop a dynamic one-two punch in Indiana.
Will Whitmore still be available at seven? That is an unknown, but the Pacers will get an exceptional young talent to add to their core. Can they help him reach his ceiling? That will be the key to ending their rebuild and jumping back into contention, so stay tuned to find out.
