4 disastrous mistakes Pacers must avoid making this summer

2. Pacers need to make sure to extend their superstar player.
The Pacers have had a hard time getting their All-Star level players to their second or third contracts with the team. This needs to be happening NOW and not during the season. The days of All-Star past (Paul George and Victor Oladipo) are screaming at the current day Pacers to get Haliburton extended as early as possible.
Tyrese Haliburton is our key to getting other superstar players to the team. It’s not often that there is a player that doesn’t shoot too much and is an expert at getting other players on the floor open. If we lost Haliburton after this contract it is a near certainty that we will need a change in upper-level management.
But by all accounts, it looks like Haliburton is likely to stick around and not try to get out of Indiana. The team is involving him in high-level discussions with the team as to what direction they should take. Fans should hope this indicates that Haliburton is here for the long-haul.
