The Pacers are entering one of the most important summers in recent memory with seemingly limitless possibilities. But because of this, there are also near-limitless mistakes that the team could make this summer.

If the team want to compete for a championship anytime soon, they must make wise and prudent moves that continue to move the team in the right direction. Here are four of the biggest mistakes the Pacers need to avoid.

One of the biggest mistakes that the Pacers could make would be to trade away far too much draft capital in a marginal upgrade on the roster. Role players are a dime a dozen and can be found undrafted as well as the Miami Heat are demonstrating in the finals.

The Pacers don’t need to give up first-round picks for role players. That is a surefire way to cap how good we can be in the coming years. If we trade away picks is needs to be a for a targeted player that fills the timeline and is a significant upgrade to the roster (i.e. a power forward).
