The Pacers have been bringing in prospects the last couple of weeks to ensure they have an idea of the strengths, weaknesses, and personalities of different draft prospects. This week, they have one individual coming in that many locals are going to know quite well.

Trayce Jackson-Davis is familiar to many Pacers’ fans given his local ties playing for the Indiana Hoosiers. TJD had quite the successful career down in Bloomington averaging the following his final season there:  21 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and a steal for the Indiana Hoosiers. That’s quite the stat line.

TJD projects to be an early second-round pick and may be an option for the Pacers with their first pick of the second-round. Additionally, the Pacers have three first-round picks they could use on him if they find that he would be an excellent addition to the team, although many of those picks may be a reach.

During his time at IU, he certainly had strengths but also had some weaknesses as well, including going through some real cold stretches. But given that his dad is former Pacers’ legend Dale Davis, it makes sense that the team would give him a solid look.

TJD is another of a long line of workouts the Pacers are looking at their later picks in the draft.

Aside from Cam Whitmore, many of the workouts in recent days have been focused on players that are likely to go later in the first round as well as second round talent. This may indicate that the team already feels that they have a somewhat clear direction with their number seven overall pick.

We will see in the coming days if the Pacers decide to keep all of their draft capital or move off of some of it to move up in the first-round to take a better overall talent as they continue their franchise rebuild.
