Pacers’ rookie Bennedict Mathurin is coming off of one of the best rookie seasons a player has ever had for the Blue and Gold. And he is now adding one more item to his rookie-year resume.

Mathurin is serving as an NBA Finals correspondent and wanted to make sure the record was straight on who won between him and Jamal Murray one-on-one in 2019.

On top of that, Mathurin made sure to show up to media day in style. He came rocking the old school Pacers’ pinstripes of Jermaine O’Neal. And many across social media took note of the top notch fashion choices of the budding Pacers’ star.

On it’s own it means very little, but there are a few things that we learned from Mathurin showing up to media and the kinds of questions he asked.

Mathurin has the ultimate competitor mentality

This was something that we learned in the recent Pacers’ GM interview but it was even more on display for the Pacers during media day. Watching Bennedict show up and want to make sure one of the better players in the NBA (Jamal Murray) had to admit that Bennedict had beat him one-on-one was something of a true competitor or the mamba mentality.

It shows that the Pacers are increasingly in the national spotlight

Between Haliburton doing national interviews during televised games and Mathurin showing up and be part of NBA finals media day, it’s good to see the Pacers as a team on the rise in the national NBA mind.

This proves the Pacers need to bring back the old pinstripes

Mathurin looked great in the old school uniforms and it is just another reason why the Pacers absolutely need to bring back the best uniforms in franchise history.

Mathurin is great and he wants to make sure that everybody….EVERYBODY…. in the NBA knows it.
