Pacers’ star shows sense of humor in hilarious response on Twitter
By Joe Lyon
It’s NBA awards season, and because of this, new voting results and awards are coming out nearly daily. This week the results for the All-Defensive teams in the NBA have come out and for the most part, the results were as expected (expect one pacer was definitely snubbed). However, there was only one Pacer that received a vote for the All-Defense team: Tyrese Haliburton.
Now, don’t get us wrong, Tyrese is certainly an amazing player, although his biggest strengths are certainly on the offensive side of the ball, whereas his defense if probably good/above average at best. And it turns out fans weren’t the only ones who were surprised to see Haliburton get a vote, as Haliburton himself poked fun at his own defensive skills with a meme on Twitter.
In recent years, there has been issues with people saying that the voters are biased or not watching games, and perhaps this is evidence of that. It could also be evidence of a home-town voter deciding to campaign for their guy. Or it could be that they got the wrong Tyrese or clicked the wrong button. In any case, it was good to see Haliburton have the ability to poke fun at himself on twitter.
That being said, defense is certainly something that Haliburton needs to be working on.
There are a handful of areas that Haliburton could improve, but none are bigger than his performance on the defensive side of the ball. While he certainly isn’t a liability on defense, he usually doesn’t bring a supreme amount of weight to it either. Improving on defense could take Haliburton from an awesome point guard to a two-way superstar in the NBA.
I love having Haliburton here in Indiana and he’s a great Twitter follow if you aren’t already (@TyHaliburton22). Glad to see he has a sense of humor.
