11. T.J. McConnell

T.J. McConnell may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think about the Indiana Pacers’ trade assets, but there’s no question that he is a player that could be key in the team’s attempts to upgrade the roster via trade.

What makes McConnell a great trade asset for the Pacers to have is the fact that he’s a proven, capable backup point guard and the fact that he’s on a very affordable contract – due less than $10 million in each of the next two seasons. If the Pacers were to get into trade discussions for a star player with a big contract, McConnell is a player that could work as somewhat of a salary filler that doesn’t possess negative trade value.

McConnell has been a valuable backup point guard for the Pacers for the past four seasons. It wouldn’t be surprising if he stuck around for a couple more. However, if the right deal comes around for the Pacers, McConnell could very well emerge as a throw-in (with value) to make the salaries work.
