Last night was a tight contest between the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers, the first of a seven game series. The Warriors are currently trying to defend their championship from last season, while LeBron and the Lakers are looking to get back to title-contention. During the game, Pacers’ star Tyrese Haliburton joined Channing Frye and Taylor Rooks to discuss the contest.

At one point towards the end of the game, the Warriors had a chance to tie it up to send the game to overtime. Curry was quickly double-teamed leaving Jordan Poole relatively wide open to take a shot from deep, the problem was, he might have been closer to half court than the three point line.

Tyrese Haliburton then chimed in saying that he wasn’t disappointed with the look and would have taken a similar shot himself. In response, Channing said “That’s why you are here with us.”

It was a funny moment and one that we could all have a laugh at. But Haliburton is right in today’s context in the NBA. Many players are constantly putting up shots from that deep behind the line, it just so happens that Jordan Poole missed the wide open shot this time.

It’s good to see the Pacers’ star being involved with the national media and bringing attention to the special things going on here in Indiana.

It’s been awhile since the Pacers had a national face on the team and it looks like Haliburton could quickly become that for the small-market franchise.

Haliburton has an electric personality and one that shows leadership but also is very approachable. He clearly has a knack for the spotlight and I think that it would be an understatement to say that the Pacers franchise has a LOT to look forward to in the coming years.
