Johnson is the perfect level of player that is realistic but makes a difference for Indiana.

There are plenty of players that are free agents this offseason that would be incredible pickups for the Pacers including players such as James Harden, Khris Middleton, Nikola Vucevic, and Fred VanVleet. But none of these players are really realistic for the Pacers as they aren’t great fits alongside of Haliburton, as well as the issue of recruiting them to a small market, rebuilding team, like the Indiana Pacers.

However, Johnson is the perfect level of player for the Pacers. He hasn’t made an All-Star team or won significant NBA awards, yet has proven himself to be a solid rotational difference maker in the NBA and now has done so in the playoffs. He clearly continues to have a higher ceiling and the Pacers could expect him to get better in years to come.

The fact that Johnson isn’t a ball-dominant player and can play defense as well adds to his case as a perfect fit for the Pacers, who already have the offense they need in Haliburton, Mathurin, Hield, and Turner but really just need a solid four to come into the rotation and play both sides of the ball.

What do you think? Would Johnson be a solid pickup for the Pacers?
