Proposed trade with the Knicks could make the Pacers think twice
This Knicks-Pacers trade could force Indiana to make a hard choice
In this deal, the Indiana Pacers send Buddy Hield to the currently playoff-bound New York Knicks for Obi Toppin, veteran Evan Fournier, and a protected future first-round pick.
Hield, who has drained the second-most three-pointers this season, has been a very solid addition for the Pacers this season. While initially profiled as a salary dump in the Tyrese Haliburton deal, the veteran gunner has been one of the most consistent players this season for the Blue and Gold.
Meanwhile, Toppin has declined this season for the Knicks with his minutes and production down from last season, perhaps as a result of Julius Randle reclaiming his All-Star form. Also, Fournier has effectively been phased out of New York’s rotation with Tom Thibodeau surprisingly going with younger options at the wing spots.
Now, would this hypothetical deal strike the interest of the Pacers?
