4. Starting to discuss with Haliburton an extension/new contract for after next season.

Hopefully the Pacers started this process long ago, but they need to be talking to Haliburton yesterday about his new contract after next season. Given that obtianing and retaining superstars is the only pathway to success in the NBA, the Pacers need to do anything and everything they can to keep their newfound All-Star that has the chance to be generational.

It may go easy, many of these rookie extensions seems to go that way (see Luka, Trae, etc. for examples), but it is better to be talking about this earlier rather than later. It will also help them answer other questions on this list like Buddy Hield once the Pacers have a wholistic picture of what Haliburton is going to be asking for.

I think it probably goes without saying, but the Pacers absolutely should give Haliburton just about anything he wants when it comes to his next contract. Stars don’t come to Indiana often, we can’t cheap out when they finally arrive.
