Jerami Grant is exactly what the Pacers need.
The Pacers should closely be monitoring the situations between Grant and Portland this offseason. While Grant has publicly said that he is enjoying being in Portland, we know that it has been reported that he turned down an extension with the team. While it is hard to decipher his motivations for doing so it boils down to one of two things: he either wants more money than the Blazers can offer before the season ends OR we wants out of Portland.
If it is the second option the Pacers need to have an ear to the ground. Jerami is one of the few players on this list that would be worth shelling out big bucks to bring into Indiana based on his fit alone. And while the Pacers could maybe add a similar player in the draft, a known commodity is always better than a shot in the dark.
Given the relationship that Portland and Indiana have had in the past, it shouldn’t be too hard for the front office to have an idea of how the negotiations are going.
