Did Rik Smits have flash? Nope. Did he have multiple All-NBA accolades? No. Did Rik Smit consistently play high level basketball for the Pacers for 12 years? You bet he did. He made one all-star team in 1997-98, but beyond that the national noise around Smits wasn’t anything to write home about. But the kid from the Netherlands, or Dunking Dutchman, anchored Pacers teams in the paint for other a decade with highly efficient basketball and shooting (career 51% FG). He had some injury problems later in his career, but overall, Smits was an integral piece to the great 90s Pacers teams.
